It’s Five Minute Friday time! #Fmf is an amazing writing community that comes together every Friday. A one-word prompt is revealed Thursday night and you’ll have, you guessed it, five minutes to free write.
Then you link up with the other fabulous people and enjoy reading what each other wrote. You just never know what a single word will mean to another person. Check out my last free-write. Let’s write!
Five Minute Friday: Collect
Leaning on the railing of her back deck, her thoughts raced as she stared off into the distance.
In her home there were many chores that needed to be completed: laundry, collecting recycle, dishes, organizing the living room. But in that moment, it all seemed futile. After a long-grueling week, this quiet moment was all she could have asked for.
Other things were vying for her time, but she needed to collect her thoughts. She needed to remind herself why she was working so hard every day and for whom she was working.
You can call it self-care or loving one’s self. She called it finding peace in the arms of God. God does not run around like a chicken with his head cut off. Jesus did not run himself into the ground while on earth. Instead, he took the time to reflect and worship with his Heavenly Father.
So, as her eyes looked off into the distance at nothing in particular, her heart reached out to God to come in.
